Mayon Volcano Erupts With Lava Flows And 100 Meter Ash Plumes Over Philippines

Philippines – Close-up footage recorded by the Mayon Volcano Observatory at 09:01 AM on April 30, 2026 shows ongoing volcanic activity at Mayon Volcano, including lava effusion accompanied by collapse-fed pyroclastic density currents.

The footage also captured short-lived lava fountaining between 02:15 and 02:17, along with minor Strombolian activity at the summit crater. These events generated ash plumes that rose approximately 100 meters above the crater before drifting westward.

The eruption is now on its 115th consecutive day, with continued effusive activity producing incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents locally known as “uson,” and frequent rockfalls.

Authorities maintain Alert Level 3 over Mayon Volcano. Entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone remains strictly prohibited.
