Mayon Volcano Erupts With 250-Meter Lava Fountains Amid Persistent Activity

Albay, Philippines – On March 30, 2026, the DOST-PHIVOLCS Quick Response Team and Mayon Volcano Observatory recorded Strombolian activity at 7:42 PM, featuring weak lava fountaining. The events produced incandescent fountains reaching 250 meters high and ash plumes that drifted southwest.

The effusive eruption has continued for the 85th consecutive day, generating glowing lava flows, pyroclastic density currents known locally as “uson,” and frequent rockfalls.

Authorities maintain Alert Level 3 for Mayon Volcano and strictly prohibit entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone to ensure public safety.
