Opa-locka, Florida – Video filmed by X user Vygoron shows thick, towering plumes of black smoke rising high into the sky during a massive junkyard fire in Opa-locka, Florida, on May 25, 2026.

The first clip captures intense black smoke billowing upward and spreading across the northwest Miami-Dade skyline.

A second video, filmed around 6:00 p.m., shows another angle of the heavy smoke column dominating the horizon over Opa-locka.

The fire erupted shortly after 5 p.m. at a junkyard near the 13100 block of Cairo Lane and NW 135th Street.

Authorities said the blaze rapidly grew into a four- or five-alarm fire involving more than 80 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units.

The thick smoke could be seen for miles and remained in the area into the night. Residents with respiratory issues were warned to stay indoors and seal their windows because of air quality concerns.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
