San Juan Harbor, Puerto Rico – Salvage operations continued as Unified Command worked to recover a large fuel barge that ran aground along the rocky shoreline near Castillo San Felipe del Morro.

The 285-foot barge Defiant was seen resting against the rocks on February 10, 2026, after the vessel became stranded inside the harbor.

The incident happened a day earlier, on February 9, 2026, when the tug vessel Storm reported that the towline connecting it to the barge had snapped.

Following the break in the line, the Defiant drifted onto the rocky coast, where it remains as response crews carry out salvage efforts.
