Lubbock, United States – A large dust storm swept across the South Plains on the evening of May 14, 2026, as a driver recorded a massive wall of blowing dust and sand moving over a multi-lane highway in Lubbock, Texas.
The footage shows a towering dark-brown dust cloud surging in from open fields on the right side of the road, rapidly advancing toward the highway.
As the storm approached, buildings, houses, power lines, and the city skyline in the background became partially obscured by the thickening haze.
Several vehicles, including a white SUV, a red sedan, and a gray SUV, continued driving through the worsening visibility as strong winds carried soil across the pavement and into the air.
The dust plume expanded across the horizon under partly cloudy skies while the camera followed the scene from inside a moving vehicle.
The storm is described as a strong spring dust event affecting the Texas Panhandle and South Plains, where dry, tilled farmland and high winds can trigger severe dust conditions.
The clip was posted with the caption: “Meanwhile in Lubbock.”
