Madrid, Spain – Firefighters and emergency teams rescued a person who fell from a bridge into the Manzanares River.
Surface water rescue teams accessed the victim in the riverbed. A preliminary assessment showed no fractures or serious injuries to vital areas.
The victim was immobilized in a NEST-type stretcher, which allowed safe movement up the vertical stairs of the bridge. The ladder’s protective cage provided the fastest and safest evacuation route.
Once secured, the stretcher was lifted to street level using the IDE system. The victim was then handed over to SAMUR staff for medical care.
Authorities emphasized the operation as a demonstration of effective coordination between multiple emergency services.
