Bergamo, Italy – A man was arrested after violently attempting to kidnap a one-year-old girl from her mother in a supermarket in Bergamo.

The incident occurred as the family was leaving the store. The man suddenly grabbed the child by the legs in an attempt to pull her from her mother’s arms.

The mother’s resistance prevented the situation from worsening until the father, store security staff, and bystanders intervened to restrain the aggressor.

Police officers from the Volanti unit arrived shortly after and arrested the man on the spot.

Investigations, including witness statements and surveillance footage, led authorities to charge him with attempted aggravated kidnapping, targeting a minor, and aggravated personal injury.

The child was taken to the hospital, where a femur fracture was diagnosed, caused by the violence during the attempted abduction.
