Albay Province, Philippines – Dramatic footage shows dark gray ash and smoke rising from the southwestern flank of Mayon Volcano as new lava activity continues at the Mi-isi Gully.
Glowing orange lava moves down the gully, with incandescent material visible as the advancing flow collapses and breaks apart.
A thick ash plume spreads across the scene during the ongoing volcanic activity. Residents in communities south and east of the volcano may experience light ashfall carried by weak winds.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reports continued lava flow advancement and collapse at the Mi-isi Gully on Mayon Volcano’s southwestern flank.
Alert Level 3 remains in effect over the volcano. This level indicates increased chances of hazardous explosive eruptions.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant, avoid the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone, and prepare for possible impacts as monitoring continues.
