Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii – A fresh burst of volcanic activity at the summit of Kīlauea sent lava fountains erupting from Halema‘uma‘u crater on June 1, 2026.

The lava fountains, identified as episode 48, began at 4:40 a.m. HST. The activity originated from the north vent located within the summit crater of the volcano.

Footage recorded just after 7 a.m. shows the ongoing eruption, with volcanic material being thrown into the air and then falling back into the crater.

The video captures tephra from the lava fountain settling back inside Halema‘uma‘u, showing most of the ejected material returning to the crater area during the event.
