Kīlauea, Hawaii – Kīlauea, one of Hawaii’s largest and most active volcanoes, has erupted, according to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory of the US Geological Survey.

Lava fountains from the volcano’s vent have reached heights of up to 110 meters (360 feet).

The north fountain later dropped to about 350 feet (110 meters) after five hours of eruption. The UWD tiltmeter recorded about 11 microradians of deflation, equaling an eruptive volume of 4.5 million cubic yards (3.5 million cubic meters).
