Kilauea Summit Roars With Lava Fountains In Powerful Eruption Display

Kilauea, United States – A new eruptive phase at Kilauea summit was captured in a timelapse showing lava fountaining during episode 44 on April 9, 2026.

The video was recorded by the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory B1cam, positioned on the south rim of the caldera.

The footage documents summit eruption activity, where lava fountains were produced during the event.

According to the information provided, the south vent released most of the precursory lava flows, while only the north vent produced a lava fountain during this eruptive episode.
