Kanlaon Volcano Ash Plume Reaches 1500 Meters As Alert Level 2 Remains In Effect

Philippines – Ash emissions were recorded rising from the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano at 10:08 a.m. on May 17, 2026.

Gray ash plumes were observed emerging from the crater and reaching an estimated height of 1,500 meters above the summit before drifting toward the southwest.

The activity was captured using an IP camera at the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory in Canlaon City.

Authorities confirmed that Alert Level 2 continues to be enforced over Kanlaon Volcano following the emission.

The footage shows ongoing volcanic activity at the summit crater, with ash being released and carried away by wind.
