Jets Vanish Into Whiteout As Lake Effect Snow Slams Rochester Airport

Rochester, New York – On February 23, 2026, X user Joseph Frascati recorded wider follow-up footage from Rochester, New York, as intense lake-effect snow continued pouring off Lake Ontario.

Heavy, steady snowfall blankets the area. Large, fluffy flakes fall in thick curtains beneath a grey sky.

Several commercial airplanes are visible in the mid-ground and distance. Some are on final approach, their landing lights cutting through the dense white curtain as they descend toward Greater Rochester International Airport.

Others are already on the ground or taxiing slowly along runways and taxiways. Their fuselages and wings gradually accumulate fresh powder in near-whiteout conditions.

Aircraft emerge from the snow and disappear back into it as the lake-effect band continues. Runway lights glow faintly through the flakes, while snow piles up on tarmac, grass, and nearby buildings.

This followed Joseph’s earlier close-up snowflake clip, now showing planes operating directly inside the same powerful snow band. Classic Rochester winter weather at full force.
