Istanbul, Turkey – A huge crowd of Aston Villa supporters filled a busy Istanbul street on May 20, 2026, celebrating after the club’s 3-0 victory over SC Freiburg in the UEFA Europa League Final at Beşiktaş Park.
The handheld video, filmed by X user Leon, showed thousands of fans packed between multi-story buildings, shops, and trees as chants and cheers echoed through the street.
Supporters wearing claret-and-blue shirts, including jerseys marked “KONSA 4,” raised fists, phones, drinks, beer bottles, and cans into the air while singing and pointing excitedly upward. Signs reading “ÇİĞKÖFTE CITY” and Turk Telekom could be seen above the crowd.
From a window or balcony on an upper floor, fans ignited bright orange flares and smoke bombs while waving a large purple-and-blue Aston Villa flag. Thick white smoke spread across the street as the celebrations intensified below.
The camera moved across the packed scene, capturing countless supporters recording the moment on their smartphones. People wearing red Turkish fezzes were also visible among the Aston Villa fans.
The celebrations erupted after goals from Youri Tielemans, Emi Buendía, who was named Man of the Match, and Morgan Rogers secured Aston Villa’s first major European trophy since 1982 and the club’s first silverware in nearly 30 years.
Around 40,000 Villa supporters traveled to Istanbul, especially gathering around Taksim, transforming the city into an all-night football celebration. The footage quickly spread online as one of several dramatic scenes showing the overwhelming Aston Villa presence and the absence of visible Freiburg supporters during the celebrations.
