Sosas de Laciana, León, Spain – Helicopter reconnaissance footage shows a continuous active fire line burning across a steep, vegetated hillside above the Laciana valley.

Visible flames stretch along the slope as a large white-to-gray convection column rises and drifts across the ridge. Below the fire, a compact village, green fields and forest sit in the valley.

The helicopter circles the incident, capturing wide views of the smoke plume against the clear sky and surrounding peaks, close passes along the flame front burning through green brush and trees, and ridge-top views of the main column and smoke-filled draw.

The footage also shows a dirt track and darker burned and smoking ground on the far side of the hill.

The fire was recorded as active at 17:22 on September 3, 2026. The Junta de Castilla y León activated IGR 2 because of its proximity to homes, and more than 150 residents of Sosas de Laciana were placed under preventive confinement.

León delegate Eduardo Diego said the confinement followed an assessment of the situation, while Villablino mayor Mario Rivas described conditions as complicated.

More than 20 resources were mobilized, including environmental agents, ground crews, fire trucks, bulldozers, forest brigades and eight helicopters. CECOPI was convened, with the province under a high forest-fire danger alert.

No official hectare figure or cause was published in the reports checked at the time of the post.
