Hillsborough County, Florida – Video filmed by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office shows an incident where an impaired driver crashed into an HCSO patrol vehicle during a traffic stop.
Deputies had observed the vehicle traveling without its headlights on before stopping the driver.
During the traffic stop, the impaired driver struck the patrol vehicle while driving in reverse. Thankfully, no one was injured in the crash.
The incident was among 37 DUI arrests made by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office during the Fourth of July weekend enforcement operation.
The operation included traffic stops, vehicle and vessel checks, and efforts with the Tampa Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, and USF Police to keep impaired drivers off roads and waterways.
Sheriff Chad Chronister said, “Every impaired driver we took off the road this weekend was at least one life potentially saved.”
