Lebanon – New footage shows ambulances being used by Hezbollah to transport weapons and militants, according to a statement dated April 24, 2026, describing repeated use of medical vehicles and institutions to conceal militant activity.
The report claims the organization routinely uses ambulances, medical personnel, and vehicles as cover for moving fighters and weapons, stating that this practice undermines the special protection granted to medical assets under international law.
It is stated that evacuation efforts for civilians in southern Lebanon have made it harder for militants to blend into the area, leading to increased reliance on ambulances for movement between locations while disguising identities.
In one incident, soldiers from the Golani Brigade conducted searches in the Kantara area following the killing of armed militants who violated a ceasefire and were considered a threat. During the searches, an ambulance was found allegedly used to conceal weapons, including explosives, mortars, magazines, and a grenade.
In another reported event last month, forces from the 7th Brigade encountered a Hezbollah militant operating near an ambulance while carrying an RPG weapon. The militant fired at the forces and was killed. Weapons were later found inside the ambulance, described as having been used for armed positioning and combat operations from what was referred to as a protected cover.
Additional footage reportedly shows militants surviving airstrikes, fleeing on foot and hiding until an ambulance arrives. The individuals are then collected while lying on stretchers inside body bags, according to the description provided.
