Huge Shipyard Crane Collapses Into South Carolina River

Charleston, South Carolina – Coast Guard Sector Charleston response personnel responded to a submerged shipyard crane that fell into the Cooper River near Pier G in Charleston, South Carolina, on July 12, 2026.

The Coast Guard Sector Charleston Captain of the Port established a 100-yard safety zone around the crane following the collapse.

Boom was deployed around the area as response operations continued near the submerged crane.
