Benasque, Huesca, Spain — Specialists from the GREIM mountain rescue unit, supported by the Guardia Civil air unit in Benasque and a 061 emergency doctor, carried out a coordinated operation to assist two hikers in the Pyrenees.

The rescue took place in Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, within the Benasque municipality area, where the hikers were moving through steep, rugged terrain. Their progress became impossible after inadequate planning of the activity and an overestimation of their abilities left them unable to continue.

The operation involved a helicopter working over snow-covered slopes and rocky mountain faces. Rescue teams in high-visibility green jackets and yellow vests were deployed onto the terrain to reach the stranded hikers in difficult alpine conditions.

Footage from the scene shows the helicopter hovering close to the mountainside while rescuers carefully navigate the steep and unstable ground. One rescuer is seen securing a hiker on a snowy slope, while another handles equipment near the aircraft.

The coordinated effort between GREIM specialists, the Benasque air unit, and medical personnel allowed both hikers to be safely extracted from the remote mountain location in Posets-Maladeta Natural Park.
