Vélez Rubio, Almería, Spain – A coordinated mountain rescue operation unfolded on a steep rocky slope in the La Solana de la Muela area after a woman suffered a fall and a suspected ankle fracture.

Rescuers carrying backpacks and emergency gear carefully transported the injured woman down the uneven terrain, supporting her as they navigated the dry mountainside under clear skies.

A Guardia Civil helicopter from the UHEL unit approached the area and hovered low over the slope. Dust was thrown into the air as the aircraft descended and landed on a relatively flat section near the rescue team.

Ground personnel coordinated the transfer, guiding the injured woman toward the helicopter while maintaining communication with the air crew.

Once secured, the woman was assisted aboard the aircraft. The helicopter then lifted off and climbed away from the mountains, leaving the rugged landscape and distant valleys below.

The rescue took place on June 14, 2026, and involved the Guardia Civil mountain rescue unit (GREIM) along with the helicopter unit (UHEL). An off-duty GREIM officer also joined the operation from the ground to assist with coordination.

The injured woman was successfully evacuated to a meeting point where medical services were waiting for further care. No additional injuries were reported during the operation.
