Los Gualchos, Granada, Spain – A dramatic helicopter evacuation has been carried out after an injured fisherman fell on a rugged and inaccessible cliffside near Castell de Ferro.
The operation was captured in official multi-angle footage showing the high-risk rescue along the steep coastal terrain. The incident took place in the area of Los Gualchos, close to Playa de La Rijana.
The fisherman, a 55-year-old man, suffered a fall on the rocky cliffs and was first attended by medical services at the scene. Due to the dangerous terrain, specialist rescue units were activated to reach and extract him.
Footage shows the helicopter flying low along the Mediterranean coastline, with steep cliffs and crashing waves below. Inside the aircraft, rescuers in high-visibility gear prepare equipment before moving into position for the evacuation.
On the ground, GREIM mountain rescue specialists navigate the uneven rocks beside the sea, reaching the injured man and stabilizing him. He is seen wearing a black jacket as rescuers assist him on the rocky surface.
The UAER aerial unit and GREIM team coordinate the extraction, using the helicopter to lift and transport the injured fisherman from the cliffside area.
