Lincoln County, Nevada, USA – A rapidly expanding wildfire known as the Grapevine Fire is burning across the Clover Mountain Wilderness, about 10 miles southeast of Caliente, as it continues to spread through remote and rugged terrain in southern Nevada.

Video shows the large wildfire engulfing the landscape, with flames and heavy smoke moving across steep, rocky slopes filled with timber, pinyon-juniper, and brush fuels.

The fire has grown to around 18,500 acres, making it the largest wildfire in Nevada so far in 2026. Officials report that containment remains at 0%, with only limited progress made through burnout operations along sections of the perimeter.

Fire behavior is described as extreme, including wind-driven runs, active torching, and long-range spotting. The difficult terrain and fuel conditions are making suppression efforts more challenging for crews on the ground and in the air.

Heavy aircraft support and hotshot crews are actively engaged in the response. A Type 3 Incident Management Team has taken command as operations continue on Bureau of Land Management land with difficult access.

The wildfire began in mid-June 2026 and has expanded rapidly. It is burning in the same region as the nearby Kane Springs Fire, which has also grown significantly and remains partially contained. Together, the two fires have burned more than 30,000 acres.

Officials state that no major structures or widespread evacuations are currently threatened, though conditions remain highly changeable due to wind and dry fuels.

Firefighters are focusing on building containment lines, aerial water and retardant drops, and strengthening fire edges to slow further spread.
