Saône-et-Loire, France – Authorities in France have warned drivers to remain alert after highlighting the risk of deer and other wildlife behaving unpredictably on roads after consuming fermented fruits and other natural substances.
The Saône-et-Loire Gendarmerie shared a video showing a deer moving erratically, running in circles and appearing disoriented after what is described as possible consumption of intoxicating natural materials.
Officials stated: “Not all road users are sober.”
They explained that deer and other animals can become affected after eating buds, fermented fruits, or decaying plants, which may lead to “totally unpredictable behavior.”
Drivers were urged to watch for sudden movements such as “sudden crossing, inconsistent trajectory, immobilization on the road [and] disorderly escape.”
Authorities also added a warning message: “If Bambi overindulges on the forest aperitif, it might not be the time to drive like you own the road.”
The advisory stresses caution due to unpredictable wildlife movement on and near rural roadways.
