Greendale, Wisconsin – A 28-year-old Franklin man faces charges after allegedly fleeing police and causing a crash in Greendale. The accused, Tyler Ewing, reportedly injured another driver during the incident.
A Greendale police officer spotted a white SUV speeding south on S. 76th Street near Edgehill Road on March 28. The vehicle was clocked at 68 mph in a 40 mph zone, according to the criminal complaint. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the SUV accelerated rapidly.
The complaint states the driver weaved through traffic and used the emergency lane to pass vehicles. The SUV later reached speeds over 100 mph. It disregarded a red light at College Avenue and continued on Loomis Road.
The chase ended when the SUV struck another vehicle, sending it into a ditch. The SUV then hit a light pole and rolled over. Ewing exited through the passenger door and tried to walk away but stopped when approached by police.
During a search, Ewing reportedly said, “I don’t (expletive) care,” when told he could have killed someone. The other driver suffered minor injuries.
