Tirana, Albania – A large crowd gathered at dusk in the streets of the Albanian capital during a nighttime protest captured in a video filmed by X user Megi.

Demonstrators carried large pink flamingo effigies and cutouts mounted on poles, with some figures appearing damaged or torn. Protesters also waved red Albanian flags bearing the double-headed eagle while many people recorded the scene on their phones.

Signs displayed messages including “The Homeland Is Not For Sale” as participants chanted and cheered through the streets.

The energetic gathering featured symbolic actions involving the flamingo figures against a backdrop of city buildings, trees, and streetlights under the evening sky.

The scenes are part of Albania’s ongoing “Flamingo Revolution” protests, now in their fourth week. Demonstrators oppose multibillion-dollar luxury resort developments planned for Sazan Island and the protected Vjosa-Narta wetlands near Zvernec.

The projects are linked to U.S. investor Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of President Donald Trump, and other foreign investors.

Critics say the developments threaten important flamingo and migratory bird habitats, bypass environmental protections, and involve the sale of public or protected land to private interests.

The movement has expanded into broader anti-government protests, with demonstrators calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama over alleged corruption and a lack of transparency.

Protesters say that Albania’s land and nature belong to its people.
