Venice, Italy – A video filmed by Vigili del Fuoco shows firefighters responding to a burning boat in a narrow canal in the Cannaregio district.

The footage, recorded from a fireboat at dawn, captures a small moored vessel engulfed in bright orange flames and thick white smoke. Firefighters in full protective gear are seen directing strong streams of water at the blaze in an effort to bring it under control.

The shaky handheld video shows the operation unfolding between historic Venetian buildings along the canal. In the foreground, a red lifebuoy and the wooden deck of the firefighting boat are visible.

The intervention took place in the early morning hours, with reports placing the incident at around 6:30 AM on April 28, 2026, in the Cannaregio area at calle larga Piave.

The response was described as having prevented the fire from spreading to nearby structures and other boats.

The owner of the boat was injured and taken to hospital following the incident.
