Fire Erupts At Mexico City Metro Station As Smoke Fills Packed Platform

Mexico City, Mexico – An incipient fire broke out at Revolución Metro station on Line 2 on the evening of Thursday, September 24, prompting a power shutdown so crews could access the track area and extinguish it.

Video filmed by X user Comandante Chula VRga shows the crowded platform as smoke and haze hang in the station.

A Citizen safety alert issued that evening reported the fire at Revolución Metro and confirmed that power was cut to allow crews to reach the tracks.

The person who posted the footage wrote that he was heading to the Metro when “the Metro Revolución exploded.”

No flames or blast are visible in the footage, and no confirmed injuries or confirmed explosion at Revolución station on September 24 were reported in the available information.

The incident was separate from a September 15 short-circuit at Gómez Farías station on Line 1.
