Noventa Di Piave, Italy – Firefighters began responding at around 11:20 on Monday, March 9, 2026, to an emergency on the A4 highway at kilometer 420 in the direction of Trieste following a crash involving two tanker trucks.
The collision resulted in a rear-end impact between the vehicles, after which one of the tanker trucks caught fire. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene to handle the blaze and secure the situation.
The driver of one of the trucks involved was rescued and handed over to medical personnel for treatment.
Specialized NBCR units were also deployed to the location to secure the area, while the Venice flight department carried out an aerial reconnaissance over the zone.
The section of highway affected by the incident was closed in both directions of travel.
As of the 18:30 update, firefighting operations were still ongoing at kilometer 420 of the A4 highway in the direction of Trieste in the province of Venice following the morning crash involving the two tanker trucks.
NBCR personnel remained on site conducting operations to transfer the cargo from one of the involved vehicles and continue securing the scene.
The affected stretch of the highway remained closed to traffic in both directions near the Noventa Di Piave interchange.
