Baluk-Baluk Island, Basilan – On January 29, 2026, eleven remains were recovered during the continuation of the search and rescue operation in the waters surrounding Baluk-Baluk Island.
The operation involved government agencies, the private sector, local residents, fishermen, and families of missing individuals, all working together to locate those affected by the incident.
Philippine Coast Guard Spokesperson Captain Noemie Cayabyab confirmed that the remains are undergoing retrieval procedures led by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Basilan. This process aims to identify the victims and inform their families.
Authorities continue to investigate the total number of individuals who were on board the MV Trisha Kerstin 3 when it sank.
Officials said updates will be provided regarding the number of survivors, recovered victims, and those still missing as the operation continues.
