Atlanta, USA – Former UFC star Dustin Poirier has been charged with public intoxication following a confrontation at Atlanta airport after being denied boarding on a flight.
Atlanta police officers were called to Delta Gate D36 at around 4:50 p.m. on Sunday after reports of a dispute involving an intoxicated passenger. Airline staff had refused to allow the man to board a Delta flight.
The passenger, identified as Poirier, became visibly upset and shouted profanities at airline employees. According to police, an officer who responded recognized Poirier from his fighting career and requested backup due to his behavior.
Authorities said Poirier acted aggressively toward officers upon their arrival and continued to have repeated verbal outbursts. He then assumed an aggressive stance and told officers, “If you want to arrest me, then go ahead,” according to body camera footage.
Officers then took him into custody without further incident following that statement.
Poirier was transported to Clayton County Jail, where he was charged with public intoxication. He appeared in court for the first time on Monday and has since been released on bond.
