Dust Devil Sweeps Kīlauea Crater During Ongoing Volcanic Eruption

Hawaiʻi, USA – A V3cam recording from June 14, 2026 shows a dust devil forming inside Halemaʻumaʻu crater during lava fountaining activity at Kīlauea.

The footage, captured just after 2 p.m. HST, shows a puahiohio developing within the summit crater as volcanic activity continues.

The rotating column forms near the north vent lava fountain and moves across the crater floor. It travels toward the position of the V3 livestreaming camera as it advances.

Tephra debris can be seen swirling around the camera view as the dust devil passes through, mixing with material in the active crater environment.

The scene occurs during ongoing lava fountaining at Kīlauea, with both volcanic activity and the atmospheric vortex present inside Halemaʻumaʻu crater.

The footage highlights the interaction between strong wind rotation and volcanic conditions within the summit crater during an active eruptive phase.
