Fort Myers, United States – A Lehigh Acres woman was arrested after deputies said she drove a rental car into a home in Fort Myers early Thursday morning.

According to deputies, the driver stated she was heading home from Fort Myers Beach when she allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel and crashed into the residence.

Authorities reported that she admitted to drinking earlier in the night while on Fort Myers Beach.

After field sobriety exercises were conducted, deputies determined she was under the influence.

The woman was taken into custody and charged with DUI, DUI causing property damage, and refusal to submit to testing.

No injuries were reported in the crash.
