DeBary, United States – The Volusia Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies and Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded yesterday to multiple hit-and-run crashes involving a reckless driver on Interstate 4, beginning in Seminole County.

Witnesses said the suspect vehicle struck a guardrail, lost a front wheel, and continued driving before exiting the highway. It later became stuck at a construction site off Shell Road in DeBary.

Deputies detained the driver, identified as Eric Drewry, who was suspected of being under the influence. Authorities said he resisted arrest and kicked a deputy while being placed into the back of a patrol vehicle.

During questioning by a trooper about the crash, Drewry reportedly replied, “What crash?”

While being transported to the hospital, he allegedly asked deputies multiple times to be released in exchange for a $2,000 bribe.

He was charged by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office with resisting arrest and battery on law enforcement. Florida Highway Patrol charged him with DUI, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, and refusal to submit to DUI testing (subsequent offense).
