Millares, Spain – A high-risk technical rescue operation was carried out on May 13, 2026, in the barranc del Naixement ravine in Millares, Valencia province, where an injured man was airlifted from steep canyon terrain.
The operation was conducted by the GERA mountain rescue team using a yellow-and-red rescue helicopter identified as MV6-R.
Footage filmed from the open door of the hovering helicopter shows a bird’s-eye view of the narrow gorge, with steep rocky walls and a turquoise-green river far below.
A rescuer wearing a neon-yellow helmet, full harness, and blue jumpsuit is lowered on a rope toward a rocky area near a waterfall. Inside the aircraft, crew members wearing red and neon helmets manage ropes, operate the winch, and prepare a stretcher.
The rescuer reaches the injured man on a rocky ledge, secures him, and both are lifted back up together while the helicopter maintains a stable hover above the ravine.
The video captures the coordinated extraction as the team completes the air rescue and transfers the injured man to medical services after the evacuation.
