DPS Discovers 20 Hidden Migrants Inside Truck Near Laredo

Laredo, United States – Texas Department of Public Safety officers uncovered 20 undocumented migrants hidden inside a truck tractor during a traffic stop near Laredo on May 26, 2026.

The stop took place just after 4:00 p.m. on IH-35 near mile marker 13 outside the city in Webb County. Officers pulled over a white Peterbilt truck tractor as part of Operation Lone Star enforcement efforts.

A search of the vehicle revealed 20 migrants concealed in the sleeper compartment of the truck tractor.

This incident marks the second time in under 10 days that nearly two dozen undocumented migrants have been found hidden in a similar manner during a DPS traffic stop in Webb County.

The driver, identified as 47-year-old Antonio Brown, a Nevada resident, was arrested and charged with smuggling persons. He was booked into the Webb County Jail.

The 20 migrants were from Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. They were handed over to the United States Border Patrol.

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the case.
