Thomasville, North Carolina – A donkey named Miss Kitty was rescued after becoming trapped in deep mud near a pond in North Carolina.
Firefighters and animal rescuers received assistance from a towing company to lift the animal out of the difficult terrain.
Thomasville Fire and Rescue reported on social media that crews were called to the pond on Friday night after receiving a report of a donkey stuck in deep mud. “She had likely been there for hours and couldn’t move,” the post said.
Firefighters worked alongside the Piedmont Emergency Animal Response Team to create a rescue plan. A truck from Garrett’s Towing was used to help carry out the operation.
Video shared by the department shows Miss Kitty being lifted out of the mud with the tow truck.
Officials later said, “The last update we received from the family is that Miss Kitty is doing well and on the road to recovery.”
