Domestic Worker Arrested in Totana for Stealing Jewels from Homes

Totana, Spain – The Guardia Civil has arrested a 60-year-old domestic worker in Totana for stealing jewels and cash from five homes. The thefts, valued at around 30,000 euros, occurred in properties where she worked.

A key breakthrough came from a resident’s complaint, supported by surveillance camera footage. The images showed the woman rummaging through furniture while cleaning, raising suspicions about her involvement.

The Guardia Civil’s investigation, part of the “Plan Against Home Burglary,” confirmed no force or break-ins were used to access the homes. This led them to focus on individuals with easy access, like the domestic worker.

Other residents later reported missing jewels and cash from their homes. They linked the thefts to the suspect, who had also worked for them. These cases had not been reported earlier but matched the pattern.

The investigation traced the stolen jewels to shops in Totana where the suspect sold them. She allegedly exploited the trust of her employers to steal with impunity from the homes she cleaned.

The operation, named “Jewelry Cleaner 2,” concluded with the woman’s arrest. She faces charges for five counts of theft and burglary, linked to the 30,000 euros in stolen goods.
