Lovers Key State Park, Florida, USA – Three girls were pulled from dangerous waters after getting caught in a rip current at Lovers Key State Park while they were unable to make it back to shore.

The incident happened on Sunday while deputies were on patrol in the park. Authorities were alerted that the girls were struggling in the strong current and in immediate danger.

Without hesitation, Deputy Raymond Tellez Ferriol entered the water carrying flotation devices. He swam out directly to the group despite the conditions.

Once he reached them, he worked to secure all three girls and guide them safely through the current. One by one, he brought them back toward shore.

All three girls were successfully rescued and returned to safety without further incident.

Officials highlighted the deputy’s fast reaction and willingness to act in a high-risk situation, crediting his response for preventing a potentially tragic outcome.

Rip currents are known to become dangerous very quickly, even for strong swimmers, and authorities continue to remind beachgoers to stay alert to changing water conditions.
