Fulshear, United States – Bodycam footage shows Officer Flynn approaching a non-venomous Texas rat snake, also known as a western rat snake, coiled on the ground near a residential property in the Polo Ranch community.

Wearing protective gloves, the officer carefully reaches down, grasps the snake with both hands, and lifts it from the pavement as it twists and coils in response.

He holds the reptile securely while speaking to it in a lighthearted manner, then carries it away from nearby homes toward a brushy area for release.

The snake continues moving as Officer Flynn relocates it unharmed into vegetation away from the neighborhood.

The incident occurred in Fulshear, a Houston suburb known for its mix of suburban development and wildlife encounters. The Fulshear Police Department shared the bodycam footage highlighting the officer’s composed handling of the common local reptile.

Texas rat snakes are harmless to humans, excellent climbers, and beneficial predators of rodents.

The snake was safely removed and released without harm following standard non-lethal protocols for non-venomous snakes in residential areas. No injuries were reported.
