Coast Guard Helicopter And Boat Crews Respond To Lake Erie Water Rescue Near Kelleys Island

Lake Erie, United States – Coast Guard personnel assisted in a rescue operation near Kelleys Island on May 19, 2026, after multiple people entered the water and emergency response crews were deployed.

Three Coast Guardsmen assigned to Station Marblehead were involved in the response while aboard a TowBoat vessel, assisting in the recovery of one person in the water.

A helicopter crew was also launched to help locate and rescue an additional person who remained unaccounted for in the area at the time of the operation.

Earlier in the incident, Station Marblehead personnel had already rescued two people from the same location in the water.

The coordinated response continued as crews worked to locate and assist all individuals involved near the island on Lake Erie.
