Pozzuoli, Campi Flegrei, Naples area, Italy – Video filmed by X user El Frosho Lavezzi shows multi-story residential buildings with a steep, exposed tuff cliff rising behind them as a cloud of dust and debris billows into the air. Sections of the cliff break away and fall while the camera pans and zooms in on the collapse.

Scaffolding is visible on one of the nearby buildings as people stand and move along the street below. Parked scooters, cars, traffic signs, and street lamps can be seen in the foreground throughout the footage.

The collapse followed a magnitude 4.7 earthquake that struck the Campi Flegrei volcanic caldera at approximately 7:46 p.m. local time on July 31, 2026. The epicenter was near Pozzuoli at a shallow depth of about 3 kilometers.

It was one of the strongest earthquakes recorded in the area in decades amid ongoing bradysism-related seismicity. The quake caused rockfalls from tuff cliffs, including the collapse captured in the video, damage to buildings, power outages, and disruption to rail and metro services.

Authorities reported several minor injuries, mostly classified as code yellow, temporary evacuations of some residences, and ongoing aftershocks.
