Bajo de Masinloc, Philippines – A China Coast Guard vessel fired a water cannon at a Philippine vessel during a mission supporting Filipino fishermen on July 23, 2026.

At approximately 5:54 AM, China Coast Guard vessel 3302 moved to about 50 meters from the bow of BRP Datu Dumangsil. At 6:29 AM, the vessel fired its water cannon for more than two minutes, causing an indirect hit.

Around 6:00 AM, China Coast Guard vessel 21579 also carried out a dangerous maneuver, crossing approximately 500 meters ahead of BRP Datu Paiburong. No injuries were reported, and both Philippine vessels continued their mission.

The Philippine Coast Guard and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources were conducting the operation to provide fuel subsidies and support Filipino fishermen at Bajo de Masinloc.

Despite the incident, M/V Mamalakaya and BRP Datu Cabaylo completed the distribution of fuel and food packs to Filipino fishing boats in the area. BRP Datu Sumakwel continued patrol and resupply operations.
