Gloucestershire, England – Video filmed by X user Kurt Liam Roberts captures the chaotic spectacle of the annual Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling Races in Gloucestershire, England, on May 25, 2026, during Bank Holiday Monday.
Filmed from a high vantage point on the steep grassy hillside, the footage shows large crowds of spectators gathered along the top of the hill, many holding phones and flags as they watch the event unfold.
Moments later, dozens of competitors throw themselves down the near-vertical slope while chasing a rolling wheel of cheese.
Runners tumble, roll, slide, and crash down the extremely steep hill, kicking up grass and dirt as they race at high speed toward the bottom.
Some competitors fall heavily and roll uncontrollably down the slope, while others struggle to remain on their feet during the frantic descent.
The person filming spent the day at the famous event and shared the footage with the caption: “I’ve had worse bank holidays tbh today I spent the day at the cheese rolling races.”
The video captures one of Britain’s most eccentric and dangerous traditional events.
