Buffalo, USA – A handheld video filmed by X user Michael Tziretas during Game 5 of the NHL Eastern Conference First Round playoffs at KeyBank Center on April 28, 2026, captured a memorable moment after anthem singer Cami Clune’s microphone suddenly stopped working during “O Canada.”
As Clune began singing at center ice, the sound cut out unexpectedly. Thousands of Canadian fans from southern Ontario immediately took over, loudly singing the entire anthem together in perfect unison without hesitation.
The arena’s giant jumbotron displayed close-up shots of Clune alongside Canadian flag graphics while players from the Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins stood respectfully on the ice. The camera moved across the packed stands, showing fans cheering and singing beneath the bright arena lights.
The clip, shared by Joe Warmington, described the moment as a “special Canadian assist” for Clune after the technical failure interrupted the performance.
Later in the video, Clune receives a replacement microphone and goes on to flawlessly perform “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
The unexpected sing-along quickly became a viral moment and was praised as a powerful display of unity and respect during recent cross-border tensions. Clune later called it an “amazing moment,” saying the crowd helped her finish the anthem.
