Debrecen, Hungary – A friendly match between Hungary and Kazakhstan at Nagyerdei Stadium was suddenly disrupted when a cable-suspended television camera fell from its overhead rigging and crashed onto the pitch.
The video, filmed by X user BEN, captures the moment the incident unfolds inside the stadium.
On the field, players in white and yellow kits are positioned during active play while the suspended camera system hangs above the sideline. The device begins to emit visible smoke before snapping free from its cable and plunging toward the touchline.
A sideline cameraman operating another camera reacts instantly and steps back to avoid the falling equipment. The spidercam hits the ground in a burst of smoke, sending debris across the edge of the playing area. Players stop and turn toward the incident as officials and stadium staff move quickly in to secure the scene and clear the wreckage.
Spectators in red and white fill the stands as the unexpected disruption unfolds on the pitch.
The incident occurred during the first half on 9 June 2026. Reports stated that fire had damaged the cable supporting the spidercam system, leading to its failure. No players or staff were injured, though the sideline operator narrowly avoided the falling equipment.
Match officials temporarily halted play to remove debris before the match resumed. Hungary later went on to win 3-1, with Dominik Szoboszlai contributing to the result.
