Monterey County, California – Firefighters are battling a slopover on the Williams Fire after a section of the blaze crossed the established containment line early on July 21, 2026. The new fire growth is estimated at approximately 25 acres.
Video from the scene shows flames and smoke spreading across a hillside as firefighters actively suppress the slopover and reinforce containment lines to prevent further expansion.
Crews from CAL FIRE’s San Benito-Monterey Unit remain at the fire, working to bring the new growth under control while strengthening the existing containment lines. The main Williams Fire had previously been held near 150 acres.
