BMW Goes Airborne Over Roundabout At 140mph After High Speed Police Pursuit

Leeds, United Kingdom – A high-speed police pursuit ended in a dramatic crash when a BMW 3 Series went airborne over a roundabout at speed before rolling into a roadside hedge.

The incident involved Ashley Parr, 35, of Moorland Drive in Guiseley, who has since been sentenced after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, drug driving, and drink driving.

The pursuit began on July 21, 2025, after a member of the public reported a dangerously driven vehicle on the A166 near Garrowby Hill.

Police identified the BMW and anticipated its route toward Leeds, positioning officers along the A64.

A traffic officer began following the vehicle after spotting it near the A64 Fulford Interchange and immediately noted erratic driving.

Blue lights were activated near the A1036 junction, but the BMW continued after briefly slowing and making a sudden lane manoeuvre.

The driver refused to stop and reached speeds of 130mph on the A64 before joining the A1 southbound, where speeds increased to 140mph.

The vehicle later exited at junction 42 of the A1(M), where it failed to take a roundabout and struck it at high speed.

The impact caused the BMW to become airborne before it rolled several times and came to rest in a hedge.

The court heard the driver was later sentenced to 16 months in prison and disqualified from driving for three years and eight months.

A police officer involved described the driving as extremely dangerous and said it could have resulted in fatalities for both the driver and other road users.

He also thanked the member of the public who reported the vehicle, stressing the importance of calling emergency services when witnessing immediate danger on the roads.
