Summit County, Colorado – Video shows deputies helping a black bear cub that became trapped inside a dumpster during a nighttime response.

Deputies carefully assist the cub as they work to help it get out of the container. According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the cub’s mother was nearby and watched as deputies helped the animal.

The incident happened on the night of July 28, 2026, when deputies responded to a call involving a bear cub stuck in a dumpster.

The sheriff’s office said the mother bear remained calm while deputies provided assistance and helped the cub free itself. The successful rescue was shared the following day.
