Martin County, Florida – A large barn fire broke out over the weekend along SE Ranch Acres and was captured in helicopter footage showing flames and thick smoke engulfing the structure at night.

The homeowner was awakened by a loud popping sound coming from the barn before the fire quickly intensified and spread throughout the building.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and worked to prevent the flames from reaching nearby structures. Despite the intensity of the blaze, crews managed to keep it contained to the barn.

The homeowners were not injured in the incident.

Inside the barn, a donkey and a horse were trapped and did not survive the fire.

Helicopter video shows emergency lights from responding vehicles, heavy smoke rising into the night sky, and firefighters directing hoses at the burning structure as the wooden barn suffers severe damage and partial collapse.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
