Snoqualmie Pass, USA – On March 13, 2026, a sudden mini avalanche of wet snow and slush broke loose from a steep embankment alongside Interstate 90, tumbling onto the highway shoulder and pavement. Dashcam footage from a Washington State Patrol vehicle captured the event in real time amid heavy winter conditions, with snow-covered trees and mountains in the background.
A large slab of snow cascaded rapidly down the slope, spraying a billowing cloud of white powder directly ahead of the patrol car. Despite the dramatic display, the slide remained contained, and no injuries or road closures occurred.
The mini avalanche happened during the tail end of a major late-season snowstorm that brought several feet of accumulation to Snoqualmie Pass. The trooper described the incident as a dramatic but controlled event, marking what he called a “crazy end to winter.”
